Supermarine Spitfire Mk Ia X4009

Supermarine Spitfire MkIa X4009 was acquired as a project by Ross and Ann-Maree Pay and was generously donated to Hunter Fighter Collection Inc. The aircraft was flown by Australia’s top scoring Battle of Britain Ace, 39461 Flight Lieut. Paterson Clarence Hughes DFC.

Known as The Pat Hughes Spitfire, X4009 is to be restored and rebuilt to airworthy condition by Vintage Fighter Restorations and will be operated at Scone NSW as a flying memorial to Pat Hughes.

Hunter Fighter Collection Inc. was successful in securing an Australian Commonwealth Grant from the “Saluting Their Service” program to enable the commencement of the restoration work on Spitfire X4009.

Donations to help complete her restoration are gratefully appreciated. Donate Here to help X4009 fly again!

A donation of $2 or more is tax deductible in Australia.
